This page isn't really about me. It's about Erik, who calls me the little sister he never had. I guess that makes him some sort of makeshift big brother of mine. He told me to make a page about him, and I decided I would.

Erik doesn't talk to me any more. Ever. Looks like he's forfeiting this friendship.

This is Erik. Charming.

Erik, some of this stuff I've been meaning to say to you. I know you will understand.

Erik is very unique, or at least I've never met anyone else like him. He appears very complex on the outside, and it's true that he's a very interesting guy, but really he's just another loser like the rest of us. When I met him for the very first time, I thought he was a weirdo. The second time I met him I just had to talk to him more because I thought he was the most intriguing person I'd ever met. He works like that.
He's moved around a lot. I think that's helped him build some friend-making reflex; he's lived here a month and a half, and he's got a girlfriend countless friends and acquaintances, a 'little sister he never had,' AND (this annoys me) he's on homecoming court. When you meet him he will immediately launch into some deep conversation, and after talking for two hours you will have the feeling that you've known him forever. My mother thinks he's just some amazing people person, but I have this theory which I came by through what Erik thinks is female intuition. His friend-making skills are just some mechanism he has to keep everyone at arm's length; he says and does the right things that people will open up to him and connect, but he never really reveals himself. His outward ego and self-confidence are a very convincing mask he puts up, but he's actually pretty wimpy about telling things about himself. I think he's making little bits of progress, and I am trying to help this along. He's a really great guy, but he's just not genuine with everything, even though he appears to be.
He is some mad literature and movie buff. I honestly don't know what to think of that-- he IS knowledgeable about literature, but only certain types. He goes on forever about this stuff, and he really knows it. I like to hear about all of it; I want to learn as much as I can, and he's a good resource. His movie knowledge is just crazy. I don't know how he's seen so many movies - any movie you could mention will set him off ranting or praising, but he's a really good judge. If you want to get a good opinion on a movie, or discuss one, talk to him. After going to two Film Appreciation Society meetings at our school he has essentially dethroned the senior member of the club, and the teachers supervising turn to Erik rather than the one who's really supposed to be heading it.
Erik is also a good person to talk to about music if you're into the same stuff he is. If not, he'll just trash what you say (but I really shouldn't blame him - I do the same sometimes). He knows a lot about lesser-known bands. I like that. I'm always up for new music.
Erik messes with other people. I think his intentions are good, but somehow he manages to anger lots of people all at once, which is not exactly a good thing. I try to give him pointers on how I think he might be a little more constructive with his 'advice,' but he never listens to me. I'm not really sure why this is; it makes me wonder what else I haven't figured out about him that he sticks to his guns so much with this thing. He tells people exactly what he thinks, and it's damaging. I guess that's the way to get the most effectiveness out of what he wants to say, but there really ought to be a way to avoid the side effects. I will think about it more.
Even though he wants to seem like such an amazing writer and always talks about memoirs and his authors and all, Erik is too caught up in writing his journal like he knows it's gonna be published in the future. He definitely has the capability to be important and well-known, but his confidence in the future of his journal as a literary work warps his writing into something that isn't real any more. He doesn't let anybody read it, but for some reason he lets little Kat peek inside... some of it is shocking and well-written, and other parts of it are misspelled and pretentious. It annoys me.
