not feeling the love6/6/01Among all the 'alternative' types - goth, punk, raver, skater, whatever - there ought to be a little unity, you know? Not all that PLUR stuff they talk about, or any of that... I just mean everybody ought to be a little kinder. Being at concerts and shows and stuff you notice that everyone's trying to scope everyone else out, look a little more edgy or whatever, to show they're for real. Why? Seriously... who cares? Preppy types don't care. They all look the same and they're cool with that. We've got nothing to prove, really, especially not to each other. I'm not saying people are mean, 'cause they never are. They're nice once you bust that bubble of 'me and my friends are cooler than you, look at our crazy hair colors and piercings.' I just don't like the whole animal competition that everyone starts out with. I know I love all you guys out there, and I don't like to compare or be compared, so STOP IT, okay? Yeah, so next time you're at a show or a store and you see someone else who looks interesting, don't think to yourself "I bet they're some kind of loser poser." Smile at them. Say hey. Give them a nickel, or a hug. You know you want to. |
