These are things I've experienced that you ought to take a look at, too! It's amazing stuff!

to read
| The Perks of Being a Wallflower | Stephen Chbosky | Probably the best book I've ever read. One year of Charlie's life, as told by him in letters. |
| A Medicine for Melancholy | Ray Bradbury | A collection of realistic short stories that examine different aspects of society, and how things might end up. |
| Someplace to Be Flying | Charles de Lint | A sci-fi/fantasy type book about urban folklore. Charles de Lint writes good stuff. |
| The Giver | Lois Lowry | The Giver is about a boy named Jonas who lives in another time and place, in a very well-ordered community, and the beginning of his adulthood. (I don't want to give it away!) |
| Fight Club and Invisible Monsters | Chuck Palahniuk | Read anything by Chuck Palahniuk. It's all wunnerful. You've probably heard about Fight Club; Invisible Monsters is about a model who gets her jaw shot off and goes on a road trip with a woman named Brandy Alexander. |
| The Prophet | Kahlil Gibran | Poetic philosophical musings. Read it. |

to see
| Requiem for a Dream | The story of 4 people and their experience with drugs. The most powerful, shocking thing I've ever seen; it's amazing. |
| Empire Records | The employees of a record store have to fight to save the Empire... if you haven't seen this, GO RENT IT! |
| girl | Coming-of-age type deal... but it's not your stereotypical story. It's hilarious. |
| The Fifth Element | Camp(but great) sci-fi type thing. Bruce Willis is great... I don't know, the movie is just so cute! And funny as hell. |
| Princess Mononoke | Amazing animation - it's about man's exploitation of the forest, and the forest spirits' fight to save themselves and their home. |
| Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon | One word: BEAUTIFUL. Prettypretty Chinese movie, with beautiful effects and a very traditional Chinese feeling. The fighting scenes are SO well choreographed and executed. |
| Chocolat | Just a feel-good movie about a chocolaterie, set in France(ooh!). It's about a very conservative town during Lent and their reaction to the opening of this chocolaterie. |
| Amélie | YOU MUST SEE THIS MOVIE. It's about a girl named Amélie, and it's the best movie ever. She decides to help people out, and that's all I'm gonna tell you, because you have to watch it for yourself. :) |

to hear
| Album Title | Artist | Sound |
| Mer de Noms | A Perfect Circle | Maynard has the most beautiful voice... the mood goes from mournful to angry, but it's really good music all the way through. |
| (any!) | Incubus | Incubus has their own sound. They go from techno-ish to almost hardcore. All of their albums are a good mix. |
| Becoming X | Sneaker Pimps | Techno - great lyrics and vocals. |
| Requiem for a Dream Soundtrack | Clint Mansell, the Kronos Quartet | I guess this classifies as... techno? Trance? I don't know. It's all the incidental music from the movie. I can't listen to it enough. It goes from violins over digital effects to sounds of waves with people screaming in the background(which is better than it sounds here). |
| Bring Your Own Stereo | Jimmie's Chicken Shack | Good waking up music... peppy, singable-to, etc. And... they're local! |
| Godsmack | Godsmack | Good hardcore with nifty sound bytes. |
| The White Pony | the Deftones | Fantastic hardcore... the deftones are just... the deftones. They do their own thing. This album is great. |
| Bleed American | Jimmy Eat World | I think that they actually changed the name of the album after September 11, so I don't know what it's called now. But it's great pop-rock, accessible for anyone, and it's got energy and emotion behind it. |
